Ours is an age when practically all our knowledge and information are acquired through mass media. Mass communication involves a vast audience extending around the world and even includes future generations of readers and viewers.

Ordinarily, much communication of ideas, information and attitudes is carried on through mass media. All forms of mass media have the same primary functions, namely to disseminate information and news happenings both at home and abroad, to comment editorially by analyzing news and stating opinion about the meaning of the news, to serve as an advertising medium and to entertain through such devices as special features, columns and comic strips.
